10 frequently asked questions
10 frequently asked questions
I was looking through my notes over the past month and thought I would compile a list of the most asked questions about kokm.
Question #1: Is kokm an LMS (Learning Management System)?
Yes kokm is.
kokm is a digital workplace hub for your teams to work, learn, share and sell, kokm has an amazing LMS within its architecture. You have all the stuff you need to do your job, work with your peers, suppliers and customers, sell your product/time/service on line using the ecommerce enabled website. The LMS is amazing, even if I say so myself and only one part of the rich functionality.
Our view is that LMS's/learning should not be considered a stand alone isolated application or action. Our belief is that learning takes place every day on the job or off the job. Information becomes knowledge when facts about something are learned and applied, then embedded into the person learning/doing and the organisations DNA.
The architecture of kokm allows the information to become a part of every day learning and work and vice/versa. kokm LMS provides mutliple ways of learning from F2F right through to interactive gamification - all being tracked and recorded. The data and Learning Record Store lets you dissect and analyse the information.
Question #2: I can see kokm is an integrated platform and has a lot of functionality. What if I do not want to use all the functionality at once?
You don't have to.
You decide when and how you will introduce functionality to your team/organisation. At setup time we tailor the site to each client's journeys and we turn off any functionality you do not want to use at implementation. That way you can plan your implementation strategy to meet your needs.
Question #3: I have a stand alone chat product that we use. I really like it but the information is contained within it. How are you different?
The information contained within kochat (kochat is our product and a part of kokm) is within the core of kokm. That information is then available to anyone who has permission to see and share that information and can be utilised within any of the other functionalities that make up kokm. You are in control, this means you are able to leverage the information and utlise it to the maximum benefit without fear of it being lost inside a stand alone application or being lost because it gets caught up in threads of different conversations.
Question #4: Where do I start with kokm?
What is your greatest need/pain point? What are you trying to achieve?
Those are the questions you need to answer and the first ones we ask. Then we can show you how kokm can solve those issues and achieve the team/organisations objectives, whilst reducing costs and improving performance.
Question #5: Can I change things on kokm? Do I need to know code?
Yes you can change things on kokm.
Once we have tailored your site to your requirements to meet your needs and workflows, depending on your user rights you are able to manipulate/change 95% of everything on the site.
No, you do not need to know or use code.
The site and architecture is designed so that the most non techie type of person can add content and administer the platform. Once tailored (set up) to your requirements, you do not need to come back to us as you have full control of all administration. That way there is no further costs associated with making changes to the site. Unless you want some bespoke development that is unique to you, then we will deveop for you and integrate it seamlessly into your kokm.
Question #6: What does kokm stand for/mean? What is the story behind the name?
kokm - means use your 'nous' / use your brain - think!
We really struggeld to find a word that reflected what we had created. kokm is a place where everything you need to do your job was in one spot. Where you can learn, work with your colleagues, share information and importantly get at information when and where you need it. Easily found and no issues with version control. Being able to work, learn and share together anywhere on any device.
We went to marketing houses and advertising guru's and they came up with all different names etc but none seemed to embody what we were trying to say.
After about 18 months of fruitless searching, my business partner Martin came to me and said - have you ever heard of the word kokm? I said sort of..... not sure, rings a bell...... can't remember what it meant.....think when I was a little girl I heard it. He said yes, that would be correct. My parents use to say to me Martin use your kokm. What they meant was - you know this information, you have learned this. Think, use what you know and build on it. kokm (spelt differently to our spelling) is an old english Midlands slang word for use your 'nut' / 'noggin'. We googled everything, there was only a vague reference to it as old english slang meaning use your brain - that is what we were trying to say with kokm. Information is knowledge when learnt and applied. Learning and work, work and learning go hand in hand.
You can think of kokm has having a central core with an ecosystem of mutliple venn diagrams sitting over it and information being pushed and pulled and feed as and when needed.
Question #7: I see kokm has CRM capability?
Yes kokm has a CRM system that allows businesses to manage business relationships and the data and information associated with them.

We continually introduce new features, as a client you automatically get those features; you can decide whether you want to use that feature or not.
Question #9: What type of organisations use kokm?
All types, we have small, mid and enterprise customers from all different verticals. kokm is agnostic, the platform is tailored to the look, feel and language that the organisation's vetical uses. It scales automatically and there is no issue with user numbers. Customers are in the following sectors
- Business Consulting
- Wholesale providers
- Enterprise i.e. utilising the product as a collaboration work tool for their people
- Financial Services
- SMART Buildings
Question #10: How much training is required to use kokm?
Depends on the tailoring complexity. On the whole the site wide administrator can learn the whole system and how to use/manipulate it within 6 hours. We have had people learn it in significantly less time that that. From the user training - less than an hour. In fact we have a number of clients who do not bother to train as the platform is intuititve and you can easily get your way around the site.
